Having spent the past year in Rochester, New York attending Rochester Institute of Technology, it is really nice to be back home in Mission Viejo, California. When I was packing up my apartment in Rochester, I was excited for my summer back home. I had an interview for Time Warner Cable as an intern for their lifestyle videos they are shooting. I was hoping I would get the internship because being a photojournalist, video is a large portion of the major. I also had acquired a small internship for Patch, an online newsletter about my city, which I was excited about. I would be photographing news and events as well as editing the pictures. The summer was looking great. Then I flew home..
It has been about a week since I've been home from college. I had my interview with Time Warner Cable, and I was offered the internship on the spot! It was my dream internship, and now I can't wait to start, learn and be able to produce the high quality work that they are putting out. It is an amazing opportunity, and I am so excited!
As for the Patch internship, they have had a hard time getting back to me. I was getting frustrated with the whole thing when I checked my email. I had an offer, without an interview, for an internship with the Orange County Register! I immediately accepted the internship and said goodbye to Patch. It was some of the greatest news I have ever received.
I am enjoying the last few weeks I have before both of my full time internships begin. I will be going up to San Francisco to photograph and celebrate a good friend's bridal shower. I am hopefully going to have time to volunteer at Westie Rescue because I love dogs so much. I know this summer will be exhausting and full of hard work, but I can't wait to learn everything I can from both companies and make great friends as well as connections!
